How many of you have realized the importance of acquiring every single bit of information from your client at the time of taking logo design project? Many of you would have considered this to be the initial step of designing but there are times when important details are missed unintentionally. And if this happens then it is bad for a designer’s reputation.

For this reason, I have come up with some important tips which will help you to get the maximum detail from your client to keep your logo Simple, Silly.

• Make a Logo Questionnaire

Make a Logo Questionnaire

A questionnaire is a form which will have different questions related to the subject. When you apply for a job in a company, they sometimes hand over a questionnaire in which there are different questions. These questions have to be answered. Similarly, your logo questionnaire form will have a list of questions related to logo design. These could be of type of color, font, design; an overall assessment of clients’ ideas to know what sort of logo design he/she wants. You would also know what’s his/her interest is in.

• Inquire about Client’s Company

Inquire about Client’s Company

You have to have knowledge about the company. Know when it was formed, its aims, policies, goals etc. For this, you will have to sit with your client and ask different questions related to his company. It will be very difficult for you to come up with a professional logo design without having knowledge about the company because a professional logo always has to reflect a company goals and visions.

• Never Start Designing Without Asking For Samples

Never Start Designing Without Asking For Samples

Even If you have jotted every bits of information of the company, there could be a possibility that your design not match with your client’s taste. The company could have a different vision and a client could have a different taste. Things might not match. To ease up this issue, ask for samples from your client. Ask for a work that he/she has approved of and wants something like it. You might be able to identify his/her likes as well through this sample design. Moreover, you’d never get stuck in a situation when your client asks you to alter the design.

• Talk about Logo Color and Font

Talk about Logo Color and Font

Although these things could be asked in a questionnaire, it will be necessary to discuss with them in person as well. You never know, the color you have applied isn’t what is required by your client. Asking things before hand will save you more time. So do not experiment on colors of your own, instead ask and then apply.

• Ask Your Client to Be Practical

Ask Your Client to Be Practical

If things do not work out following other ways then the best way is to get traditional. Hand him a paper and pencil. Now ask to draw his/her required design. He/she obviously will not draw the whole sketch but his vision somewhat on the paper might help you to track the kind of logo he/she requires. Moreover, you’d be saved from your experimenting too much with the design. :-P

• Your Portfolio Could Help

Your Portfolio Could Help

Sometimes the clients are themselves confused and do not know what designs they require. Sometimes the clients have it all inside but are unable to express. In both these ways, your only solution could be the portfolio. Show them your portfolio consisting of various logo designs. The one that they want would surely be there. Then it will be a lot easy for you to proceed with your work because all you will have to do is follow the same pattern.
